Day 1 ARUSHA

Upon your arrival in Tanzania, you will be transferred to our hotel in Arusha, in the foothills of Mount Meru, the second highest mountain in Tanzania. Overnight Kirurumu Tarangire Camp or similar.

Day 2 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

We drive to Tarangire camp set in the acacia woodland on the northern boundary of Tarangire National Park, for lunch. In the afternoon enter Tarangire National Park, characterised by giant baobab trees and famous for its elephants, plains game and predators, but also boasting a large variety of bird life including endemic species. Overnight Kirurumu Tarangire Camp or similar.

Day 3 TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Full day game drives with picnic lunch, ranging far and wide. The elephants have a fascinating way of communicating with subtle interactions, which your Guide will be able to point out and share with you. In the late afternoon you head back to camp and set out for a bush walk with local Maasai guides. Overnight Kirurumu Tarangire Camp or similar.

Day 4 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, passing through the cool ground water forest before reaching the Lakeshore. The Park is best known for its tree climbing lions, but you are more likely to see elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, primates and a wealth of bird life. Picnic lunch in the park and afternoon game-drives. Return as the sunsets behind the distant highlands and climb the escarpment to the lodge for a relaxing dinner. Overnight
Kirurumu Tented Lodge or similar.

Day 5 NGORONGORO CRATER

Early morning ethno-botanical walk including visit to local Iraqw tribe. After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, ascending to the rim and onwards to the descent road. Descend into the Crater for a tour around the Lerai Acacia Forest and the crater floor, looking for giant-tusked elephant, rare black rhino and the black-maned lion. Ascend the crater rim in the early evening through verdant montane forest for dinner/overnight
Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or similar.

Day 6 NGORONGORO - WALKING WITH MAASAI

Morning game-drives in the Ngorongoro Crater, followed by lunch back at Ngorongoro Serena. In the afternoon you head out to the rolling hills of the Ngorongoro Highlands to meet a Maasai chief, who guides you around the nearby bomas and on an afternoons walk in the surrounding area. In the late afternoon head back to the lodge for dinner. Overnight Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or
similar.

Day 7 NGORONGORO - SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

In the morning depart for the Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge to visit the small but interesting museum of this famous archaeological site. Continue on a game-drive through the vast Serengeti National Park to the Kirurumu Serengeti Camp for lunch. In the afternoon head out for game drives before returning to camp for dinner. Overnight Kirurumu Serengeti Camp or
similar.

Days 8-9 SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Full day game drives in the Serengeti, home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on earth. The land is characterized by vast stretches of open plains, punctuated by kopjes, rock formations that have survived from the Pre-Cambrian period, and more rolling, hilly, mixed savannah woodland, cut by seasonal streams and rivers that nurture huge trees. At night relax by the campfire, under a canopy of stars. Overnights at
Kirurumu Serengeti Camp or similar.

Day 10 SERENGETI/ARUSHA/DEPART

After breakfast, transfer to Seronera airstrip to connect with return flight to Arusha. Upon arrival there will be time for some shopping/browsing and a dayroom will be available before final farewell dinner and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for the return international flight.
